Many wondered how big a challenge NC State would present to Clemson. It turns out not a big challenge at all. The way the rest of the schedule lays out, Clemson will be an overwhelming favorite from here on out to not only make it back to the ACC title game but the College Football Playoff as well.

Clemson pours it on with 2-yard TD run (0:28)
NC State gets on board with 9-yard TD run (0:33)
Etienne's third TD makes a Clemson milestone (0:34)
Clemson all over fake-punt attempt (0:48)

As close as NC State was to upsetting Clemson the last few years, the opposite is unfolding today in Death Valley. Many wondered how strong the Wolfpack really were after starting 5-0 with no real wins of note. We have an idea now: the gap between the two division teams is still there, larger now, as the Tigers lead 24-0.

Clemson receiver Tee Higgins had his way with the NC State secondary in the first half, catching seven passes for 111 yards and a score. Trevor Lawrence attempted 29 passes and threw for 244 yards, taking advantage of his passing opportunities with NC State focused on stopping the run.

NC State has fought hard to close the gap on Clemson over the last few years, but the Wolfpack have been stymied at every turn in the first half. The Tigers have held the Wolfpack to 100 total yards, and Ryan Finley only has 58 yards passing and an interception. NC State, the national leader in third down conversions, is 1-of-6 so far.

Clemson creates INT for 2nd consecutive turnover (1:06)
Etienne goes untouched for 2nd TD run (0:34)
NC State hands it right back with fumble (0:37)

Most important takeaway for each top 25 team

Alabama dominated again, while the Wolverines look like CFP contenders after taking down Michigan State. Ohio State? Not so much. What else have we learned in Week 8?

Lawrence goes for it all with 46-yard TD pass (0:33)

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Clemson has made a concerted effort to get its downfield passing game going against NC State. Trevor Lawrence has taken multiple deep shots and just connected with Tee Higgins on a 46-yard score. It's no secret Clemson wants more balance and so far it has done a good job with that today.

If the first two series are any indication, Clemson is out to make a statement against NC State. The offense marched right down the field with a nice blend of runs and passes to take a quick 7-0 lead, while the defense forced a three-and-out.

Etienne opens scoring with 3-yard TD run (0:31)
Dabo carries on Kevin Turner's legacy, through his son (5:29)
