Tyler Chatwood is the first Cubs pitcher since Carlos Zambrano in 2007 to walk five or more batters in six different starts. Of course, Zambrano did it over the course of a whole season while Chatwood has done it before Memorial Day. The six starts of walking 5 or more are twice as many as any other pitcher in baseball this season.

Maddon: Doubt Rays' starter strategy catches on

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said he doesn't believe the Rays' strategy of having a reliever start games will ignite some sort of revolution in baseball. "To see that becoming a part of the norm, I doubt it," he said.

Watch Kyle Schwarber discuss getting tossed for the first time in his career after arguing a called third strike.

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Kyle Schwarber was kicked out of the game by home plate umpire John Tumpane after arguing a called strike 3 that looked high. He and Tumpane began arguing before Javy Baez got in between them to help settle Schwarber down. Joe Maddon then had his say with the umpire also. Schwarber had a questionable strike 1 call on him in the previous at-bat as well.

Kris Bryant gets a rare day off as the Cubs complete a busy stretch in Cincinnati today. Ian Happ will play third base while Javy Baez is at SS giving Addison Russell a breather.

Cubs OF Ian Happ hit the franchise's 14,000th HR tonight. He was also the fastest to 20 homers (last season) in team history and has hit a home run from both sides of the plate in a game and now both ends of a doubleheader. Plus, he delivered the weather on the weather channel earlier this week. But it's those home runs he'll remember the most: “There have been some cool ones. For a storied organization, to have some of those with your name on them, that's special.”

Happ, Cubs rout Reds 10-0 for doubleheader split

Ian Happ hit his second home run of the doubleheader, Jason Heyward tied his career high with four RBI and Jose Quintana allowed one hit in seven shutdown innings as the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-0 Saturday night for a split.

The Cubs have scored 10 or more runs an MLB leading 9 times after reaching that number in Game 2 of their doubleheader against the Reds on Saturday. They came into the game averaging an NL leading 5.26 runs per game. That average increased again after their 10 run output against Cincinnati.

Ian Happ has homered in both ends of the doubleheader against the Reds today making him the first Cub since Chris Coghlan in 2014 to achieve that accomplishment. He's been on base 11 times in 2.5 games of the series so far, including 4 times via IBB. Happ was a candidate to be sent down to the minors not that long ago but he's gotten hot, raising his OBP to over .350.
