The Heat declining the $1.6M Jordan Mickey team option opens up a roster spot and saves the team $100K toward the luxury tax in 2018-19. A roster replacement will cost Miami $1.5M. The Heat head into July with $119.2M in salary, $3.8M below the tax and 10 players under contract.

Heat's goal? For Whiteside to 'reach his dreams'

Eric Spoelstra tried to tamp down any notion the Heat have in any way given up on Hassan Whiteside, who is owed $25.4 million next season with a player option available in the season after that -- for $27 million.

Ben Simmons on Joel Embiid: "He's rusty still so once he gets flowing he is going to be scary." Embiid's rust is one reason Brett Brown believes his Sixers have the most room to improve of any team in the playoffs.

Ben Simmons was asked after Game 5 what he learned about himself during the series against the Heat: "That I'm ready for the playoffs," he said. Simmons nearly averaged a triple-double in the series.

Dwyane Wade on the Sixers: "You want to see nothing but good things for those guys. This is the future of the NBA. The NBA's in great hands with Ben (Simmons) and Joel (Embiid) and those individuals."

Hassan Whiteside played just 10 minutes in Game 5 amid foul trouble and finished with two points and five rebounds. When he was asked what frustrated him most from a team perspective, Whiteside told reporters: "Not being out there. At least give me a chance to fight. I can understand if I was playing 30 minutes and I played bad. At least give me a chance."

LeBron James declined to wax poetic about Dwyane Wade's career before the three-time champion guard announces whether he indeed is retiring this summer after 15 years in the NBA. James did say, however, that he and his former teammate spoke about the possibility of Wade retiring when the Cavs played against Miami late in the season. "Right after the game it was like, ‘If it's like our last time going against each other, then it's been everything and more,'" James shared. "But I'll give you guys a more in-depth analysis of his career (later on) if he decides to hang ‘em up."
