Bears team chairman George McCaskey publicly addressed the NFL's new national anthem policy as Chicago wrapped up its three-day mandatory minicamp on Thursday. "There is no easy answer to the anthem issue," McCaskey said. "No one is entirely right, nor entirely wrong. The policy change enacted a couple of weeks ago by NFL teams, including the Bears, isn't perfect. But we think it will return the anthem to what it should be — a unifying force — while providing an option to those players and other team personnel who choose not to stand." McCaskey added the he expects players that choose to be on the field when the anthem is played to stand, but has not decided yet the punishment for players who decide to kneel or silently protest on the field.

After spending the majority of the offseason rehabbing from a knee injury, former Bears first-round pick Leonard Floyd fully participated in Chicago's mandatory three-day minicamp, which wrapped up on Thursday. "I feel great," Floyd said. "I've been up here the whole offseason, working hard, trying to get back in shape, trying to get my leg right so I can be ready for the season." Floyd wore a bulky knee brace on his right leg throughout the offseason program, but Floyd says he hopes to be out of the knee brace by the beginning of the regular season.

"He'll get that thing right and be ready for camp," Bears coach Matt Nagy said.
